Somboon Soongkao

Born in 1977 in Payao province. Somboon got his B.A. from the Faculty of Arts, Rajmonkol Institute of Technology, Chiang Mai. Up-country of Lanna realm, the Northern provinces of Thailand where he has grown up, he absorbed in the country life, trails between villages, mountains, forests and ways of simple living of villagers. He drew pictures from nature but his nature was ratherunrealistic but it was lead by his imagination that influenced by his deep sentiment with nature of the up-country environment. Viewers can feel warmth that reflects from shelters and surroundings in his paintings at dusk and dawn in all climates, in planting and harvest seasons. His works were collected by international collectors. Somboon is now living as a freelance artist in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
