Chaiya Wannalert

Born in 1982 in Lampang, a province in the Northern part of Thailand, Chaiya got his B.A.-majoring in Printmaking from the Faculty of Arts, Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Natural beauties of fertile forest and mountainous landscapes of his birthplace and its surroundings are the initiative impression of his extensive inspiration. Through the media of woodcut printmaking, he creates floral fantasies and lovely landscapes with a gentle yet striking combination of overlapping layers of color patterns His Lanna figures from northern temple murals are also the other obsession of his "souvenir d' enfance". Viewers can feel sweetness and gorgeousness mixed in the mode of Lanna natives in those days.
