INTRODUCTION : The beauty of the north, hill-tribe angles Missamai had seen on his field trip to the north while in school still impressed him. Now Missamai has been living in Chiang Mai and was delighted to find that their ancient way of life was still thriving. Although the images of hill-tribe women in their traditional dress he has seen in the past now look like a dream from lowland society and the outside culture is more infiltrating their lives, he has found that much of their beautiful, historic culture has withstood the test of time.
